Farm Succession not being discussed

Concern has been raised following the findings of a recent survey by Macra Na Feirme that one in three of the country’s best young farmers have never discussed farm succession with their parents.

An active succession planning strategy is important for a farming business to grow and for the current farming generation and next generation to adjust to the associated life-changes with comparative ease.

It is hoped that the Farming Succession Transfer Partnerships initiative introduced in Budget 2015 will encourage farming families to be more open to and embrace the transfer of the farming enterprise.
